Sudden deviation of angle of mouth and inability of close one eye, usually following exposure to cold wind during wind during bus or train travel. Tab. Wysolene 10mg QID for 2 days. TDS for 2 days BD for 2 days, OD for 5 days.Tab. ACILOC 150mg BD x 10 days (Acid inhibitor)Cap. Becosules 1 BD x 30 days.Tab. Solu-medrol 1gm I.V. 6 hourly for 4 -6 doses. If patient has come within 48 hours of onset and if patient can afford.Mahanarayan Tel (Oil) to massage affected side of the face and cheek directed upwards. Care of the eyes:Moisol eye drops tds. To keep eye moist.Wear protective sun glasses during daytime and at bedtime close the eye with cellotape on eyelid, to prevent eye irritation, during acute phase. Maximum recovery occurs in first 3 weeks, Inform the patient that some degree of weakness will persist even with treatment. If patient is too anxious, consult Neurophysician. If the patient has ear pain or mastoid tenderness, refer immediately to ENT surgeon. If there is UMN facial palsy, or additional cranial nerve palsy or limb weakness, refer to Neurophysician.
